Roots Awarded NVHR Grant

On May 1st we were awarded a booster mini-grant from The National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable in Washington, DC. Roots Community Health Center was identified as one of seven organizations that received the $10,000 award to implement a NVHR Hepatitis C (HCV) Project! With this mini-grant, we will build upon our screening and treatment of HCV in East Oakland by documenting and ultimately sharing best practices for implementation of routine screening and treatment in the community clinic setting, including staffing, training, and billing practices, and developing a sustainability model for HCV treatment in the primary care setting. We will conduct this project from May 1, 2017 through April 30, 2018.

The six other awardees include: ‘American Association of Occupational Health Nurses Foundation’ of Chicago, Illinois, ‘BOOM!Health’ in Bronx, New York, ‘Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program’ of Boston, Massachusetts, ‘Centerforce’ of Oakland, CA, ‘The Community Health Outreach Work to Prevent AIDS Project (CHOW Project)’ of Hawaii and the ‘North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition’ of Raleigh, NC.
