Jamaica Sowell’s Bio

Jamaica Sowell is Director of Programs and Policy at Roots Community Health, having previously served as Roots’ Director of Governmental and Community Affairs.  For over two decades, Ms. Sowell has engaged in Public Health advocacy and health center operations for under-resourced communities, holding the senior positions of Director of Community Development at Life Savings Images, where she expanded access to breast cancer screening, and Program Coordinator and Health Center Coordinator for Planned Parenthood Mar Monte in Sacramento, where she managed a team of 20 professionals and paraprofessionals. She has deep experience with client relations in corporate and community partnerships, medical clinic operations, business operations, and product marketing and strategy.  Ms. Sowell holds a BS in Public Health.
