African American Based Social Enterprise Clean360 Brings New Employment Opportunities to Inglewood

Inglewood, CA. – Clean360 Bath & Body Store/Factory, a social enterprise that gives employment opportunities to individuals facing barriers to employment, celebrated the opening of its second factory store at 212 E. Regent Street in Inglewood, California on September 21st. Yusef Andre Wiley, Senior Regional Director, explained the retailer’s importance: “The Grand Opening of Roots Community Health’s social enterprise, Clean 360, marks another chapter in our work to end employment inequities that exist within the African American community. Since our formation in 2008, Roots has focused on engaging individuals facing the greatest barriers to health, one of which is unemployment. Our organization has prioritized outreach to those most marginalized and with the most significant barriers to self-sustainability.”

Yusef Andre Wiley further explains, “Roots Community Health started out in East Oakland, providing primary care services to marginalized individuals on-site at various reentry programs, substance abuse facilities and fatherhood programs, along with the opportunity to sign up for public benefits. As a component of Roots Whole Health approach, we deal with employment barriers burdening our community. We are currently a multi-service, statewide organization that operates three community health centers, three Clean360 stores, and two factories.”

New customers and program supporters were on hand to celebrate while enjoying tours and shopping. “I’m excited for the future of Clean360, the word is going to spread about the quality of their products along with the training and employment opportunities that are available,” Mark Jones, a program supporter explained.

Clean360 is strategically located in Inglewood, an area historically known as an African American community, where current unemployment rates are 6.9 percent – nearly 3 percent higher than the national average.*  Yusef Andre Wiley is optimistic. “We are humbled by the support that we have already received as we expand our reach to Southern California. And we are thrilled to be part of the solution by supporting workforce development and helping build a healthier community in Los Angeles County.”
